Dream List

Since this has started, I have found the need to also keep a mental list of birds inhabiting my dreams. Currently, the list includes the Belted Kingfisher, American Woodcock, Golden crowned Kinglet and last night's entry: the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. It seems that the target bird of the day becomes achieved at least in my dreams.

That's awesome Robin! I've had quite a few birding dreams. My dream birding life list, if I were to keep one, would be far longer than my actual life list and would include African and Asian birds that I've only seen on TV. (That's television, not Tim Vargo.)

Oh yes! I am just talking about recent post-bigby birds. Prior to bigby, the Brown Noddy is a big presence. (why?)

American Woodcock is my current 'wish' as well... a hunt may be on the agenda Thursday evening. I also am still holding out hope for another Scoter (WW still present at LSSP as of about noon Monday), or maybe LT Duck. And, obviously, a Fork-tailed Flycatcher ;).

Overall, I've been battling to find a Spruce Grouse on several attempts in the UP for the last couple of years. I've hit plenty of 'hotspots' around Whitefish Point, and even trekked deep into some pretty reliable territory on XC skis with no luck. I pretty much just assume it doesn't exist at this point.

Bill, Robin, Tim, Vic, Barb--did we not see 2 Spruce Grouse on our Land, Water, Earth, and Sky trip to Whitefish Point a couple of winters back? I think this was also Andy's nemesis bird for quite a while. Good luck Sam! I still haven't seen a male SPGR or one in WI for that matter!
